Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's field hockey squad won its 10th straight match by shutting out St. Mary's (MD) 2-0 Saturday afternoon.
Ashley Hay scored the game-winner in the ninth minute with Haylie Black assisting. The goal came off of a penalty corner.
Kylie Cale added an insurance goal in the 67th minute with Rhiannon Thomasson assisting. Cale's goal also came off a penalty corner.
The Captains out-shot the Seahawks, 22-9. Elexa Nosonchuk posted her sixth straight shutout and the team's eight consecutive.
Christopher Newport is now 10-1 on the year while St. Mary's falls to 8-3.
CNU returns to action Monday as they travel to ninth-ranked Johns Hopkins with start time set for 4:30 pm.
