Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, PA – Christopher Newport's field hockey team, ranked #4 in the nation, lost its first game in 16 tries 1-0 to the defending national champions and sixth-ranked Ursinus Sunday afternoon.
The loss snapped the Captains 15-game winning streak.
Kait Sutherland scored the game's only goal in the 68th minute. The two teams battled to a 0-0 tie at halftime and Ursinus scored the game-winner late.
Ursinus out-shot the Captains, 18-3. Elexa Nosonchuk finished with nine saves in goal and suffered her first loss of the season in the cage.
CNU falls to 15-2 on the year and Ursinus improves to 16-2. Christopher Newport concludes the regular season this Saturday when they host Frostburg St. at 11 am.
