NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's women's soccer team finally took the field to play NC Wesleyan after the two teams were washed out due to rain on Wednesday and postponed again on Thursday and the Captains scored three times in the second half to defeat the Bishops, 3-0, Friday evening.
Three different CNU players scored. Brittany Revels unassisted score 41 seconds into the second half proved to be the game-winner. Jenn Campbell scored in the 69th minute, also unassisted, and Liz Neusch scored the third goal with Katie Jaywork assisting.
Christopher Newport out-shot the Bishops, 14-2. Dineen Sampson had one save in goal and recorded her fifth shutout of the year.
The Captains improve to 11-6 overall and 7-1 in USA South play. CNU returns to action Saturday when they conclude the regular season at Mary Baldwin with kick-off set for 1 pm.
