#4 Field Hockey Drops Eastern Mennonite, 6-1

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's field hockey team, ranked #4 in the nation, upended Eastern Mennonite 6-1 Tuesday afternoon.

 

With the win, the Captains captured their 15th straight win and snapped the Royals seven-game winning streak.

 

CNU scored four times in the first half and added two more in the second stanza. EMU scored its only goal late in the second half.

 

Kylie Cale scored twice for Christopher Newport. Diana Golden and Jacque Mayer added one goal and one assist apiece.

 

Ashley Hay and Taylor Harrell each scored once. Katelyn Yandle assisted on two goals while Rhiannon Thomasson, Haylie Black had one assist each.

 

The Captains out-shot Eastern Mennonite, 27-9. Elexa Nosonchuk improved to 11-0 on the year as she made six saves in the cage.

 

EMU falls to 8-6 on the year while CNU is now 15-1. The Captains return to action Sunday when they travel to Ursinus, the defending national champions, with start time set for 1 pm.
