Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's field hockey team, ranked #4 in the country, won its 14th consecutive game by shutting out Washington & Lee 3-0 Sunday afternoon.
The Captains scored twice in the first half to lead 2-0. Diana Golden put CNU on the board in the 5th minute scoring on a breakaway unassisted. Ashley Traylor scored less than a minute later with Ashley Hay assisting.
In the second half, Anne Gehring scored in the 59th minute unassisted for the final margin.
Christopher Newport out-shot the Generals, 22-5. Elexa Nosonchuk recorded her 10th win of the year and sixth shutout of the season while making no saves in goal.
The Captains are now 14-1 on the year and return to action Tuesday when they host Eastern Mennonite at 4 pm.
