FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Christopher Newport's women's soccer squad dropped a 2-0 decision at Methodist Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, CNU falls a game behind the Monarchs for the top spot in the USA South.
Whitney Roberson scored both goals for Methodist. Her first goal came in the 32nd minute when Chrystal Bradley fed Roberson who scored on a break-away.
Roberson's second goal came in the 87th minute as she scored off a deflection.
The Monarchs out-shot the Captains, 12-10. Erin Wojtkun had two saves in goal.
Christopher Newport falls to 9-6 overall and 6-1 in the USA South. Methodist improves to 11-4 on the year and 7-0 in conference action.
CNU returns home Sunday as they host St. Mary's at 6 pm.
