Mens Soccer Drops 5-3 Decision At Salisbury

SALISBURY, MD – Christopher Newport's men's soccer squad lost a tough 5-3 decision at Salisbury Wednesday afternoon.

 

The loss snapped CNU's six-match winning streak. The Captains have now won eight of their last 10 matches.

 

Michael Caro scored the first of his two goals just 15 seconds into the game unassisted when he chipped a floater past the Sea Gulls goalkeeper.

 

Salisbury tied the score in the 14th minute on Kyle Sterling's goal. Caro then scored his 19th goal of the year in the 24th minute when Jimmy Hash found Caro who again chipped a ball in.

 

Sterling score his second to knot the score at 2-2 in the 33rd minute when he headed in a cross from Chas Gray.

 

The Sea Gulls then scored two straight to take a 4-2 lead. Matt Page cut the lead in half in the 74th minute with Brock Hughes assisting. Salisbury added a late goal for the final margin.

 

CNU out-shot Salisbury, 16-15. Matt Tengs finished with four saves in goal.

 

Salisbury improves to 10-4-1 while the Captains fall to 10-5. Christopher Newport returns to action Saturday when they host St. Mary's with kick-off set for 7 pm.
