GREENSBORO, NC – Christopher Newport's men's soccer squad scored three second half goals en route to a 3-1 win over USA South rival Greensboro Saturday afternoon.
Bobby Dabbs put the Pride on top in the 35th minute on a free kick from 23 yards away and the score remained that way at the half.
In the second stanza, Michael Caro scored the first of his two goals on a penalty kick in the 64th minute. Brian Tweed put the Captains ahead for good in the 82nd minute after he took a long volley from Jimmy Hash for the score.
Caro scored his 17th goal of the year in the 83rd minute on a point blank shot with Kyle Allan assisting.
Greensboro out-shot CNU, 16-11. Matt Tengs had four saves in goal for Christopher Newport.
CNU improves to 10-4 overall and 5-0 in the USA South as Greensboro falls to 9-3-2 on the year and 3-2 in conference action.
Christopher Newport returns to action Wednesday when they travel to Salisbury with kick-off set for 3:30 pm.
