NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Christopher Newport's field hockey team, ranked fifth in the nation, rolled to an 8-2 win over Bridgewater Saturday afternoon.

CNU scored five times in the first half and added three more in the second stanza.

Eight different players scored for the Captains. Diana Golden, Ashley Hay, Kelly Jo Broadhurst, Haylie Black, Anne Gehring, Katelyn Yandle, Kim Tomlin and Andrea Gray each had a goal in the win.

Yandle and Nicole Kuykendall each finished with an assist in the win.

The Captains out-shot the Eagles, 36-5. Elexa Nosonchuk, Emma Stout and Zuri Pryor-Graves all spent time in goal and did not have to make a save.

CNU, winners of 13 in a row, improves to 13-1 on the year while Bridgewater falls to 4-9.

Christopher Newport returns to action next Sunday as they host Washington & Lee with start time set for 1 pm.
