VA BEACH, VA – Christopher Newport's women's soccer squad lost 2-0 at cross-water rival VA Wesleyan Wednesday evening.
The two teams played to a scoreless first half, but the Marlins wasted no time in taking a 1-0 lead as Laura Jackson found the back of the net with Nikki Mazzoccone assisting in the 49th minute. Jackie Ochs-Gregory scored an insurance goal in the 54th minute on a header with the assist coming from Laura Jackson.
VA Wesleyan out-shot the Captains, 22-8. Erin Wojtkun had six saves in goal for Christopher Newport.
The Marlins improve to 10-1-2 on the year while the Captains fall to 7-5.
CNU returns to action Saturday as they host Averett at 7 pm.
