NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Christopher Newport seniors Michael Hackbarth and Riley Usher set each other up for second-half scores as the duo each notched a goal and an assist in a Saturday afternoon tilt against Rutgers-Camden at Captains Field. With a 2-0 lead and 25:00 remaining on the clock, a lightning delay impacted the continuation of the match. After a delay of one hour, thirty-two minutes, the gme could not be completed. 

The Captains outshot the Scarlet Raptors, 19-6, including a 9-2 advantage in the second half when Christopher Newport took the lead. 

In the 48th minute, the Captains took a 1-0 lead when Azarya Mickael started a play at the top of the box with a shot that deflected off a defender. The ball squirted out to Riley Usher who had a defender on his back so he played a pass out to the corner of the box for Michael Hackworth. Surveying the scene, Hackworth hesitated on the ball for just a moment before bending in a left-footed blast into the far corner of the goal. 

The second goal of the season for Hackworth gave the Captains a 1-0 lead. Just under seven minutes of game time later, the two reversed roles when Hackworth assisted on Usher's tally. The two rushed the box and Hackworth splintered the defense with a blazing shot that was stoned by the Rutgers-Camden goalkeeper, but the bounce found Usher on the follow for a second-chance score. It was his fourth goal of the year. 

The Scarlet Raptors nearly cut the lead in half in the 62nd minute when Cameron Jordan got loose down the right side, but his one-on-one chance with CNU's senior goalkeeper, Matt Yates, was stopped with a tremendous kick save. 

The weather delay began at 3:58 p.m. and continued until an all-clear at 5:30 p.m. 

Christopher Newport will return to action on Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. when the Captains host William Paterson University.
