GLASSBORO, N.J. --
Continuing its road swing, the 22nd-ranked Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will head to the Garden State on Saturday at noon for a top-25 clash against No. 15 Rowan at the RU Lacrosse Complex.

Entering the weekend, CNU sits at 9-3 on the season, including 3-2 on the road. Meanwhile, Rowan is 8-2 with a 2-2 mark at home.

For those fans unable to attend the game, live stats and a video stream of the action will be available at RowanAthletics.com. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Bouncing back from a brief two-game skid, Christopher Newport registered an impressive 20-5 victory at Kenyon on Sunday. Against the Owls, Faith O'Connor matched her career-high with six goals, including three in the opening quarter. Meanwhile, Brookelyn Morrison chipped in with four tallies, while Elena Sorkin had a hat-trick of her own.

With her eruption, Sorkin bumped her season total to 45 goals this year, which stands as the eighth-most in the NCAA. Putting her performance into perspective, the fourth-year phenom is averaging 3.75 goals per game in 2026. That currently stands as the third-highest rate in program history, trailing only CNU Hall of Famers Kaitlin Quigley (4.00 in 2010) and Ashton Marshall (3.76 in 2012).

As a team, CNU ranks seventh in the nation in scoring offense with a remarkable 16.50 goals-per-game rate. Along with Sorkin, O'Connor sits 18th on the national charts with 42 goals. Currently, the Captains are one of only three teams in the entire country with a pair of 40-goal scorers.

In addition to the dynamic duo, eight other players have at least 10 points this season. The 2021 squad was the last team to feature at least 10 players with 10 or more points.

Along with the potent attack, Christopher Newport also stands 10th in the country with a 16.08 draws-per-game rate. Starring in the center of the field, Morrison is 26th on the individual charts with a 6.42 average. In her career, the fourth-year All-American has 318 total draw controls, which places her eight shy of matching CNU Hall of Famer Meaghan Galvin's all-time program record of 326.

Continuing the team's domination on the draw against Kenyon on Sunday, Morrison pocketed nine draw controls during the win over the Owls. Meanwhile, Emilie Shoults secured four for the victors, while Megan Rotzler came down with a pair.

Rowan has also found success on the draw. The Profs are averaging 14.20 draw controls per game, which ranks 41st on the NCAA charts. The squad is also 25th in scoring offense with a 14.70 goals-per-game rate and 30th in clearing percentage with an impressive .855 conversion mark.

On an individual level, Elaina Corson is 11th in the country with 44 goals, while Madison Rothwein is 27th with a 6.40 draws-per-game average. Meanwhile, on the back end, Kylie Durboraw has a .447 save percentage and 9.04 goals-against-average. The junior goalie has collected at least nine saves in each of her last three outings, including 11 during a 12-10 win over No. 13 Franklin & Marshall last week.

In three previous meetings between the two programs, CNU holds a 2-1 edge in the series. However, Rowan won last year's battle, 14-12, in Newport News. During that contest, Sorkin led the Captains with five goals, while Corson had three for the Profs.

After this weekend, Christopher Newport will conclude its four-game road trip with an 11 a.m. match-up at Meredith on April 11.
