NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --
After wrapping up a four-game road swing over the weekend, the 22nd-ranked Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will return home for a two-game stretch at Jennings Family Stadium beginning with a non-conference battle against Randolph-Macon on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Entering the midweek match-up, CNU sits at 10-4 on the season, including 6-1 at home. Meanwhile, Randolph-Macon has an identical 10-4 record with a 4-2 ledger on the road.

For those fans unable to attend the game, live stats and a video stream of the action will be available at CNUsports.com. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Christopher Newport is coming off of a 15-7 victory at Meredith on Saturday which saw several Captains hit career milestones. During the game, senior All-American Brookelyn Morrison recorded her 327th career draw control, breaking the previous program standard of 326 set by CNU Hall of Famer Meaghan Galvin from 2014-17.

Meanwhile, Faith O'Connor and Elena Sorkin both registered their 100th career point for the Captains. O'Connor, who matched her career-high with seven points during the contest, became the 29th Captain to hit the mark with a game-tying goal in the second quarter. Six minutes later, Sorkin joined the club after posting her fourth point of the first half.

Saturday's outing was also Sorkin's 10th straight game with at least two goals. She became just the seventh Captain in program history to score at least twice in 10 consecutive contests. In that group, she joined current teammate Faith O'Connor, CNU Hall of Famers Ashton Marshall and Kaitlin Quigley, and longtime legends Syd Guidi, Lauren King, and Catie Chess.

Overall, Marshall set the school standard with two goals in 13 straight games, while Guidi and O'Connor later matched that run.

On the defensive side, Hadley Chadwick hauled in a season-high 11 saves. The senior goalkeeper also picked up her 100th career ground ball. With that performance, she joined former legend Kaitlyn Ready as the only goalies in school history to hit the century mark.

Eventually, CNU finished Saturday's game with 34 ground balls, which marked the program's highest total since collecting the exact same amount against Southern Virginia on April 18, 2018. Among the standouts against the Avenging Angels, O'Connor set a career-high with four rollers, while Sorkin, Annabella Burke, Molly Campbell, Page Henry, Gabby Saia, Kate Webb, and Laci Welch had three apiece.

Aided by their work over the weekend, the Captains now rank seventh in the nation in free-position percentage (.612), 12th in clearing percentage (.876), 13th in scoring offense (16.07 goals-per-game), and 15th in draws controls-per-contest (15.50). CNU is also averaging 13.29 takeaways per outing, which is 23rd in the NCAA.

Randolph-Macon also ranks among the top programs nationally in a variety of categories. The Yellow Jackets are eighth in the country in shooting percentage (.527) and 11th in save percentage (.517). Meanwhile, on an individual level, Lilly Fowler has scattered her name throughout the NCAA leaderboard. She is 10th in shooting percentage (.647), 16th in free-position percentage (.647), and 20th in total points (75).

Along with Fowler's work on the offensive end, Gillian Gladden has been a standout between the pipes. The senior goalie has started all 14 games and boasts a .514 save percentage, which is the 15th-highest rate in the country. She has registered double-digit stops in four of her outings, including a 13-save showcase during a hard-fought 13-9 setback against No. 10 Washington and Lee on March 18.

In 21 previous meetings between the two programs, Christopher Newport holds a 13-8 edge in the series. However, Randolph-Macon won last year's showdown, 12-10, in Ashland. During that contest, Morrison led the Captains with six points, including five goals, while Fowler had seven points for the Yellow Jackets. Gladden also made 16 saves to record the victory.

Following Wednesday's contest, CNU will conclude its regular season home slate on Saturday with a noon test against Mary Washington. That game will also serve as the program's annual Senior Day celebration.
