NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -
Christopher Newport University puts its nine-game winning streak on the line Wednesday night, as the 12th-ranked Captains entertain the second-ranked Eagles of the University of Mary Washington. Tip off time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Freeman Center. John Krikorian's team, 17-3 on the season, has won 16 of its last 17 and is coming off a 71-64 victory over UC Santa Cruz last Thursday at the Freeman Center. Mary Washington also defeated the Banana Slugs in its last game, 93-63, Sunday in Fredericksburg. UMW now has a record of 18-1.

Junior Toa Hollenbeck continues to lead the way for CNU, averaging 18.3 points per game. Hollenbeck has topped the CNU attack in scoring in five of the last six games since the beginning of the new year. The Chesapeake native scored 21 points, with 18 coming in the second half, in the win over the Slugs on Thursday. Junior Zyir Baskerville (13), senior Collin Hines (12), and junior Tyson Henderson (10) also reached double digits in the scoring column for the Captains, who out-rebounded the Slugs, 50-35, for the night. Junior big man Ethan Ward and Henderson each posted eight boards. Junior Jason Ofcarcik came off the bench to tally seven points, seven rebounds, three steals, and two blocks for the Captains, who improved to 10-1 at the Freeman Center this season.

This will be the 51st meeting of the Captains and Eagles, and Christopher Newport holds a 42-8 lead in the all-time series. Mary Washington won the last meeting in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Championship game last March 1st, 71-66, in Salisbury, Md. CNU had won the previous 14 games in the series, including both meetings last year in the regular season. The Captains have now won 23 of the last 25 games played in the all-time series.

The game will be Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night at the Freeman Center. All CNU faculty and staff can receive up to four free General Admission tickets by visiting the Freeman Center Ticket Office. Tickets will be on sale for all fans at the Freeman Center Ticket Office prior to the action Wednesday.
