NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- In the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association team rankings of the 2025-26 season, the Christopher Newport men's tennis team has been ranked No. 24 in the nation. The ITA released the first rankings on Wednesday, January 14 with Christopher Newport earning the team's highest national ranking since April 2016.
Last year, CNU hauled in the highest national ranking in program history when it checked in at No. 17 late in the Spring. The Captains closed out the 2024-25 season ranked No. 20 in the final poll of the year.
This season, Christopher Newport collects the highest preseason ranking in program history by starting the year ranked No. 24. CNU is the highest ranked team in the conference and in the state of Virginia.

Vincent Truong is ranked No. 19 in the Atlantic South Region Rankings that were released in mid-November. The 2024 C2C Player of the Year and half of the 2025 C2C Doubles Team of the Year is a five-time All-Conference selection with four first team certificates.
As a team, the Captains won 32 singles matches in tournament action this fall while the doubles pairings added 17 wins. Rookie
Nathan Russell led the captains with six wins and a 6-2 record in singles play while newcomer
Jamison Wallace added five wins with a 5-2 mark. In doubles, Wallace had four wins with two different playing partners after going 2-0 with
Alex Seretis and 2-2 with
Rainer Christiansen.
Christopher Newport are two-time defending conference champions of the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference after capturing a 4-2 win in the title match against Mary Washington last spring. The Captains closed out the season with a 13-8 overall record and carry a three-match winning streak into this season. The 2026 spring slate will start on Saturday, February 7 against NCAA Division I Hampton University with the match time slated for 11:00 a.m.
