ARLINGTON, Va. -- Heading up to Northern Virginia for a matchup at Marymount University, the tenth-ranked Christopher Newport men's soccer team is set to kickoff against the Saints at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 27. Playing at Long Bridge Park in Arlington, the Captains will look to extend an eight-game unbeaten streak to start the 2025 season.
Thanks to opening the year with a 6-0-2 record, the CNU men's soccer team has shot up to No. 10 in the United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 poll. As part of that unbeaten start, the Captains have won six in a row including a pair away from Captains Field last weekend when they toppled No. 4 Trinity (Texas), 3-2, and Hardin-Simmons, 2-0.
Next up, the Captains will face Marymount University (4-3-3) for the 16th time in the all-time series. With a 3-1 win on the road in 2023, Christopher Newport improved to 14-1-0 all-time against the Saints. CNU has won seven in a row in the series and the lone setback came nearly 30 years ago during the 1995 season.
Live stats and a live video webcast will be available online at kickoff, with links available on the men's soccer schedule at CNUsports.com.
Christopher Newport has been a balanced offense so far this season with eight goals in the first half and six in the second. The 14 goals have been converted by 11 different players including a team-high three from junior

Marymount will counter the talented CNU roster with a team looking to bounce back from a loss to Shenandoah on Tuesday night. Prior to that setback, the Saints were unbeaten in five of the previous six games with a 4-1-1 record. Marymount is averaging 2.2 goals per game while Jefferson Lopez Coreas has led the way with 20 points already this season. Lopez Coreas has nine goals and two assists for the Saints while Erick Shoetter-Rojas has added four scores and eight points.
The Saturday evening tilt is the lone matchup of the week for the nationally-ranked Captains, who will return to action on Wednesday night at Virginia Wesleyan University for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff on October 1. CNU has four games remaining on the current six-game roadtrip with matchups at Mary Washington (Oct 4) and Washington and Lee (Oct 8) before returning home against Regent on Saturday, October 11.
