NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Set to play at Captains Field for the first time since becoming just the tenth NCAA Division III program to reach a 50-game unbeaten streak at home, the nationally-ranked CNU women's soccer team will host Catholic University (3-4-1) at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday night. The Captains are off to a 6-0-2 start this season, marking the sixth consecutive season that CNU has started the year unbeaten through the first eight games.
Coming off a 1-1 draw against then No. 15 Washington and Lee, Christopher Newport is looking to get back in the win column against the Cardinals. It will be the sixth matchup all-time against Catholic with Christopher Newport teetering ahead in the series, 3-2-0, courtesy of a 4-0 win in the last pairing in 2021.

Amy Sidaway has continued her standout play between the pipes in her third season as the starter. Sidaway, a two-time C2C Defensive Player of the Week this season, boasts a 0.39 goals-against average in over 700 minutes of action this season.

Molly Seventko is coming off a week in which she earned C2C Offensive Player of the Week honors and the veteran forward leads the Captains attack with nine points on three goals and three assists. CNU is outshooting its opponents by a ratio of nearly 3:1 with 175 total attempts ranking among the nation's best in 2025. The Captains have allowed just 60 total shots this season for an average of only 7.5 per game.
Catholic earned a 1-0 win over Shenandoah on Saturday to pick up the team's third win of the season. The Cardinals also defeated against St. John Fisher and Haverford earlier this season while picking up a 1-1 draw against Marymount. Seven different players have found the back of the net so far this season for Catholic while Teighan Boyle (5 pts), Caroline Aponte (4 pts), and Peyton Coron (3 pts) have combined to add six assists. Three different goalkeepers have seen action for CUA with Ava Rieger leading the team in starts and miinutes with a 2-4-0 overall record and 1.27 GAA.
The Wednesday evening matchup is the lone contest of the week for the nationally-ranked Captains. CNU will be back on Wednesday, October 1 at Marymount University. Kickoff against the Saints is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
