BOSTON, Mass. -- Earning her ninth career Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week selection, Christopher Newport senior Amy Sidaway was honored by the conference office on Tuesday for her performance in the first week of action by the nationally-ranked Captains women's soccer team. 

Sidaway becomes the second-most honored women's soccer player in program history behind only Riley Cook, who earned a Conference Player of the Week certificate 14 times in her illustrious career. The CNU goalkeeper was named D-Player of the Week three times as a rookie, twice in 2024, and three more times last season. Her pick to start her senior season ties her for 11th all-time in CNU Athletics history for any sport with nine overall player of the week selections. 

This week, the Shelby Township, Michigan native continued her historical track by tacking on three more shutouts to her ledger. She opened the week with one save against Methodist in a 1-0 victory and then added four saves in a scoreless draw versus Hardin-Simmons. Sidaway rounded out the unbeaten week with four more stops against Chapman while capping the week with 270 shutout minutes to start the season. In the early stages of the season, she is one of only four players to record three shutouts already this year. 

Heading into the season as the CNU and C2C all-time leader in shutouts, Sidaway moved into a tie for 28th in NCAA Division III history with 36 career clean sheets. She entered her name into the NCAA record books in just 61 career games played and currently leads all three levels of NCAA - Division I, II, and III - in career shutout percentage among active players with a .590 mark. She also ranks fourth across all three levels in career goals-against average, posting a 0.39 GAA to this point in her tenure. 

The Captains opened the season with a 2-0-1 record and will look to continue that unbeaten streak this weekend with matchups against Washington and Lee (Sat., 12:00 p.m.) and Stockton (Sun., 12:00 p.m.) at Captains Field.
