NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Facing off against Mary Washington on the final day of the 2025 CNU Duals, the Christopher Newport men's tennis team concluded the three-day event with five wins in singles play and four wins in doubles action. On Sunday, newcomer Jamison Wallace picked up a win in singles and paired with Ivan Ceric for a narrow doubles setback to lead the way for CNU. 

Wallace took on Mary Washington freshman Cooper Lehman in singles and earned a 7-5, 6-3 win for his first career win as a Captain. 

Earlier in the day, Wallace and Ceric stretched Lehman and his playing partner, Ryan Gipner, to a tiebreaker in the doubles matchup. Playing back-and-forth throughout the match, the Eagles triumphed by the slimmest of margins in a 7-6 (7-5) final. 

The other doubles match played on Sunday also concluded in a tiebreaker as Sam Halvorsen and Alex Seretis paired up for the Captains against Keldibek Kozhoev and Rithik Manchala. Like their teammates, the CNU pair finished out the match on the wrong end of a 7-6 (7-3) final. 

CNU picked up one more singles win on the day as rookie Matthew Onoff also secured his first career win as a member of the Captains. Onoff cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win against Mary Washington sophomore Aidan Meehan. 

CNU will host another tournament on September 26-28, the CNU Invitational, before concluding the Fall season at the ITA Southeast Regionals on October 3-5.
