NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University's
Jahn Hines received two honors on Tuesday, adding to his list of achievements following a stellar career with the Captains. Hines, from Norfolk, Va., was named first team All-Region by D3hoops.com, and was also named first team All-District by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
On Monday, Hines was selected to play in this Saturday's NABC All-Star Game in Fort Wayne, Indiana, prior to the National Championship game. Hines became just the second Christopher Newport player to reach the 2,000-point mark this season, and finished behind only Lamont Strothers on the school's all-time scoring list.
His list of career accomplishments includes being named the Player of the Year in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference for the third time this season, and Hines has also been honored as an All-American three times to date. He became just the seventh Christopher Newport men's basketball player to ever have his jersey number retired. Head Coach

Hines, a product of Norview High School, led the Captains to an overall record of 104-19 (.846) during his career, which included the program's first National Championship in 2023. He averaged 19.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest this year as the Captains concluded the season with a 23-6 record and a trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
