NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -
Christopher Newport University heads back on the road on Wednesday, traveling to Salisbury, Md., to take on the Sea Gulls of Salisbury University. Tip off time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Maggs Center on the SU campus.

The Captains are ranked 14th in the nation for the second consecutive week, and have a record of 17-4. John Krikorian's squad is coming off a 76-57 triumph on Saturday at the Freeman Center over UC Santa Cruz. The victory was CNU's third straight and eighth in its last nine games. Fifth-year senior All-American Jahn Hines and sophomore Toa Hollenbeck led the CNU attack with 17 points each. Sophomore Ethan Ward added 16 points, and junior Collin Hines registered his fourth double-double of the season by contributing ten points and ten rebounds.

Salisbury enters Wednesday night's battle with a 15-5 record and a four-game winning streak. The Gulls most recently defeated Regent University on Saturday in Salisbury, 109-50. The game will be the 54th in the all-time series, with the Captains holding a 37-16 advantage. The schools split their two games last season, with each winning on its home floor. Salisbury's 71-55 victory last February 17th at the Maggs Center snapped a 14-game CNU winning streak in the series, which dates back to November of 1980.

The match up will feature two of the top players in their respective program's histories. In addition to being a three-time All-American, Jahn Hines has risen to third on CNU's all-time scoring list and is just five points from 1,900 for his career. Hines, the Player of the Week in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference this week for the fifth time this season, is 82 points shy of Steve Artris for second place on the scoring list. Salisbury's Jordan Oates is also a fifth-year player, and is fourth in the country in rebounds, averaging 13.3 per game. Oates is also scoring 18.9 points per game for the Gulls.
