Lily Kerr Honored with Spot on NFHCA National Collegiate Senior Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Adding another award to her ever-growing list of accolades, Christopher Newport standout Lily Kerr was named to the NFHCA National Collegiate Senior Team, which was announced on Thursday morning by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

The fourth-year phenom was one of just 60 players from around the nation to earn the prestigious honor, which is bestowed on the top seniors in the NCAA. With her selection, Kerr became only the third goalkeeper in program history to earn the recognition, joining fellow All-American Bailey Lien (2016) and longtime standout Olivia Davis (2019).

Overall, Kerr became the 25th Captain to earn a spot on the Senior Team.

In the midst of one of the finest statistical seasons in school history, Kerr currently leads the entire NCAA with a 0.34 goals-against-average. Meanwhile, her .880 save percentage is the second-highest mark among all goalkeepers in the nation.

Boasting a pristine 19-0 record entering the NCAA Semifinals, Kerr has held the opposition scoreless in 15 of her 19 appearances this fall. She has also established a new single-season school record with nine 60-minute shutouts, topping the previous record of seven set by Lien in 2013 and matched by Kerr in 2022 and 2024.

Among her finest moments, she posted six saves during a marathon battle with Messiah on September 20 before adding four more stops during the overtime shutout, which resulted in a 1-0 victory for the Captains. She also chipped in with four saves during spotless efforts against Washington and Lee on September 7,  No. 11 Williams on October 12, No. 14 Rowan on October 25, and Mary Washington on October 29.

Then, in the playoffs, Kerr pocketed four more saves during a 1-0 win against No. 5 Salisbury, which vaulted CNU into the Final Four for the second time in school history.

Along with her postseason heroics against the Sea Gulls, the Edgewater, Maryland native also notched five saves during a regular season match-up with Salisbury on October 8. That performance helped her earn the NFHCA National Defensive Player of the Week Award on October 15. Incredibly, that was the third time in her career that she received the country's highest weekly honor, making her the first player in Division III history to secure the accolade three times.

Overall, Kerr has 44 total saves in 2025, including four or more on eight occasions.

Aided by her work as a senior, Kerr has established herself as one of the most successful goalkeepers in NCAA history. A four-year starter at CNU, she has amassed 64 career victories, which equals the seventh-most in Division III lore. Additionally, she owns the school record with 27 shutouts, while her .859 save percentage is the second-highest in program history.

A two-time All-American, Kerr is also a three-time first-team All-Conference and All-State selection in her career. She has secured a pair of All-Region honors as well.

Kerr and the rest of the Captains will return to action on Friday at noon when Christopher Newport faces No. 6 Tufts in the NCAA Semifinals at Robin L. Sheppard Field in Hartford, Connecticut.
