FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Rookie Nathan Russell highlighted the final day of action at the 2025 ITA Southeast Regionals for CNU men's tennis on Saturday, advancing to the championship match in the Blue 1 singles draw. 

Russell earned a 6-3, 6-3 win against Cooper Lehman from Mary Washington to set up the bracket final appearance for the CNU newcomer. In the championship, he took on Nikola Galov from Swarthmore and battled to the very last point before suffering a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8) setback.

It was the lone victory for CNU on the day as the four doubles tandems saw action in the morning and four more single bouts were also played. 

In the Round of 16 of the championship doubles draw, Nesh Kumaresan and Gabe Smith took four games off of third-seeded Dylan Blenkiron and Brian Yi from Johns Hopkins but ultimately were eliminated in an 8-4 final. Russell and Alex Seretis stretched their consolation bracket foest from Haverford to a tiebreaker but were on the wrong side of an 8-7 (7-1) finish. 

The fall season concludes with the 2025 ITA Southeast Regionals appearance. The Captains will return to action in the Spring season when they will open the dual calendar on Saturday, February 7 as they play host to Hampden-Sydney College.
