Following Homecoming Victory over Kean, 6-0 Captains Move Up to 15th in New National Poll

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University continues to climb the national football poll from D3football.com. Paul Crowley's Captains are ranked 15th in the country in the new poll released Sunday by the website, moving up from the 17th slot last week.

CNU is 6-0 for the first time in program history following a 49-0 victory on Saturday over Kean University during Homecoming Weekend at TowneBank Stadium. The Captains have now won their last 11 games dating back to last season, and are now 3-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), tied with Salisbury for the top spot in the conference.

The new ranking is the highest for CNU since the first week of the 2007 season when the Captains were slotted 12th in the country following a victory over tenth-ranked Rowan. Christopher Newport's highest national ranking ever was 11th during the 2003 campaign, which was the first year of the D3football.com poll.

Christopher Newport travels to Wayne, N.J., on Saturday to take on the Pioneers of William Paterson University (2-4, 1-2). The NJAC contest will kick off at 1:00 p.m.
