Christopher Newport's highest national ranking was 11th during the 2003 campaign, which was the first year of the D3football.com poll.
The Captains are coming off a 69-7 victory last Saturday in Castleton, Vermont, over the Spartans of Vermont State-Castleton. All ten CNU possessions last week ended in touchdowns, three from senior running back
Gunner White, who carried 13 times for 115 yards. White became the first Captain to surpass the 100-yard mark this season and extended his school record of career TDs to 45. The Captains totaled 333 yards on the ground, and freshman Drevyon Tharrignton added 68 yards on five carries, junior
Zavier Kennedy 52 on nine rushes, and junior quarterback
Cooper Meads 38 on four totes. Tharrington and Kennedy each scored twice, and freshman

Kean University enters Saturday's NJAC battle with a 1-4 overall record and an 0-2 mark in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Cougars were 2-8 last season and 2-4 in the NJAC. Saturday's game will be the 11th in the all-time series, and the schools have split their first ten meetings.
