NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- On September 5, two storied local football programs -- the Christopher Newport University Captains and The Apprentice School Builders -- will face off at TowneBank Stadium in the Anchor Bowl. 

In anticipation of this exciting matchup, events with both schools are being planned to include a luncheon, community service projects, and alumni engagement opportunities. 

Serving as the official launch of Anchor Bowl Week, the Anchor Bowl Kickoff Luncheon will be held on Thursday, August 27 on the campus of Christopher Newport University. Former NFL quarterback Aaron Brooks will be the keynote speaker for the Kickoff Luncheon. Tickets and tables for the luncheon can be purchased here. 

This series of events is designed to celebrate this friendly crosstown rivalry, foster connections throughout the community, and engage students, alumni, and supporters of both institutions. Together, these events will showcase the pride, tradition, and spirit of our region culminating with the football game at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
