Arlington, VA - Christopher Newport Volleyball ended the second weekend of the season on a high note with a 3-0 sweep of Schreiner on Saturday.
First Set (Captains 25-19)
Schreiner cut the Captains' lead to one point late in the first set as CNU led 19-18. However, CNU closed out the set strong, winning six of the final seven points.
Macy Burk delivered two crucial kills during the run, and
Alyssa Dozier finished the set with a final kill to take it 25-19.
Second Set (Captains 25-21)
The second set saw CNU trailing 19-17 before the Captains once again found their groove, winning eight of the final 10 points. Dozier played a key role in the comeback, contributing four kills and a block, including the set-winning kill, as the Captains took the second set.
Third Set (Captains 25-20)
With the score tied at 10 in the third set, the Captains took control, winning 13 of the next 16 points. During this dominant run,
Audrey Stenger and
Megan James each contributed aces. The Captains were in full control, and setter
Alyssa Vitale set up
Avery Hanly for the final kill to clinch the set and match.
