Christopher Newport Volleyball continued their impressive winning streak. After winning both matches on Saturday against Stevens and Albion, dropping just one set throughout the day, they have now won six straight matches.
Christopher Newport 3 vs. Stevens 0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-23)
First Set
The opening set was tightly contested, with the score tied at 20.
Alyssa Vitale helped the Captains secure four straight points. She set up
Alyssa Dozier and
Avery Hanly for kills before serving back-to-back aces to bring up set point. Stevens managed to rally for three points, but
Samantha Dorn halted their momentum with a set-clinching kill.
Second Set
CNU's serving was crucial in the second set, with four aces contributing to their success. Two separate four-point rallies helped the Captains gain control, including one that featured two kills from Dorn and an ace from
Macy Burk. Burk later added two more kills during a six-point run that closed out the set, leading to a 25-17 victory.
Third Set
The Captains started strong with a block from Dozier and Dorn for the first point, followed by kills from each player, leading to a 3-0 advantage. However, Stevens fought back and took a 23-22 lead. After a timeout, CNU regrouped, with Dorn and Dozier combining for a block to tie the score. Dozier then teamed up with
Avery Hanly for another block, bringing up match point, which she won with her team-leading 10th kill.

First Set
CNU hit .300 or better in two of the four sets, starting with a solid performance in the first. Dozier got the Captains rolling with the team's first three kills and later contributed two kills and two blocks to a 7-2 run, putting CNU up 18-12. After two kills from Burk, Dozier clinched the set with her sixth kill, securing a 25-20 win.
Second Set
Facing an early deficit, the Captains fell behind 10-2 in the second set but mounted a comeback. Four kills from Burk helped CNU tie the score at 18.
Megan James added a kill and an ace before Dorn contributed another kill and a block. Dozier finished the set strong with two kills, giving CNU a 2-0 lead.
Third Set
Albion responded with their strongest attack, hitting .378 in the third set. Despite Dorn's four kills, Albion took the set 25-17, pushing the match to a fourth set.
Fourth Set
The Captains hit over .300 in this fourth set and regained control of the match. CNU went on a 6-0 run to turn a 9-9 tie into a 15-9 lead. Dozier added a kill and a block during the run, and
Alyssa Vitale served an ace. Leading 21-15, CNU closed out the match with a final four-point surge, all coming from Dorn's kills.

- Alyssa Vitale achieved a double-double in both matches. Against Stevens, she had 33 assists and 18 digs. Against Albion, she had a season-high 48 assists and 16 digs.
