Newport News, Va. - Christopher Newport continued their winning ways with a dominant 3-0 sweep over Randolph at the Freeman Center on Wednesday evening. The Captains held the WildCats to just 23 kills and a .034 hitting percentage across the three sets on their way to extending their winning streak to seven matches.
First Set
The Captains came out strong, winning seven of the first eight points to set the tone for the night. Two early kills from
Alyssa Dozier and back-to-back aces from
Audrey Stenger sparked the run. CNU was also impressive defensively, recording four blocks in the first set.
Macy Burk and
Kyla McIntyre each posted a solo block and teamed up for two more, including the block that sealed the 25-14 set win.
Second Set
Christopher Newport's defense tightened even further in the second set, holding Randolph to just three kills and a -.143 hitting percentage. McIntyre continued to shine, leading the Captains with four kills in the set, while senior libero
Noelle Starr added two aces. CNU cruised to a 25-12 victory, taking control of the match.
Third Set
CNU showed resilience in the third set as the WildCats led for much of the frame. The Captains pushed back to a 15-15 tie before a late surge provided by
Samantha Dorn and
Megan James proved too much for the WildCats. James and Dorn each contributed four kills in the final set, while
Maddi Morrison stepped up with two key blocks late in the set.
Simara Alexander capped off the match with a decisive kill to complete the sweep, 25-21.

- Freshman setter Kensie Price made an immediate impact in her debut, leading the team with 18 assists and adding six digs.
- This is the third time this season the Captains have held an opponent to 23 kills. They previously held Haverford and Calvin to the same number, a season low.
- Megan James led the Captains with 10 kills. She needed only 19 swings to reach 10 kills to post a .421 hitting percentage.
