NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- As a part of Family Weekend on the campus of Christopher Newport University, the Captains' men's soccer team will host a pair of matches at 2:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. CNU will first welcome in the Scarlet Raptors from Rutgers-Camden (3-2-0) on Saturday, September 14 before hosting the Catholic University Cardinals (2-2-0) on Sunday.

CNU will be facing Rutgers-Camden for the fifth time while holding a 3-0-1 advantage in the all-time series. It will be the first time the two teams have faced off since 2017. On Sunday, Christopher Newport takes on Catholic for the first time since the mid-90's when CNU took a 4-0-0 lead in the matchup.
The Captains remain unbeaten through the first four games this season with a 2-0-2 overall record after capturing a 2-1 win over Widener University in their last outing.
Barry Jones scored a thrilling game-winning goal in the final five minutes against the Pride after the Captains also earned a hard-fought 3-3 tie against Concordia (Texas) last week.
Manzi Siibo leads the offense with three goals and six points this season including one game-winning goal.
Luke Peri has added two goals while Jones has chipped in a pair of assists to go with his one goal scored. Defensively,
Asher Kuzemka and
Declan Karney have been flanked by
Yazan Yaghmmour and
Matt Liss for the bulk of the season while
Caleb Jones has also started in the back.
Hayden Dewey has played all but six minutes in goal and boasts a 1.02 goals-against average through the first four games this season.
Rutgers-Camden enters the Saturday afternoon tilt ranked 35th nationally in shutout percentage after three straight clean sheets to start the year. Since, the Scarlet Raptors have dropped two in a row at NYU and Arcadia before facing the Captains on Saturday. The defense has allowed just six shots per game so far this season while allowing only three goals in five games.
Catholic dropped their season opener at Roanoke before capturing a 2-1 win against then No. 3 Washington and Lee. Facing a second-straight top-25 opponent, the Cardinals dropped a decision to then No. 13 Cortland, but bounced back for a 4-0 win against King's. Holden Woodings leads Catholic with three goals and six points so far this season.
Following the weekend's action, Christopher Newport will wrap up an eight-game homestand to start the season with two more home games next weekend. CNU will take on No. 7 Colorado College on Friday, September 20 before also welcoming in Rowan University on Saturday, September 21.
