NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --
Kicking off the postseason on Wednesday at 5 p.m., the 21st-ranked Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will host Mary Washington in the semifinals of the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament at Jennings Family Stadium.

The Captains earned the No. 2 seed in the playoffs after wrapping up the regular season with a 12-5 record, including a 7-1 mark at home. Meanwhile, Mary Washington enters the postseason with a 5-12 ledger.

For those fans unable to attend the game, live stats and a video stream of the action will be available at CNUsports.com. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Christopher Newport enters the tournament after dropping a hard-fought 18-11 decision at No. 5 Salisbury on Saturday. Against the Sea Gulls, the Captains built a three-goal lead in the first half and were still deadlocked at 10 late in the third quarter, but the hosts scored eight of the game's final nine goals to steal the victory.

During that battle, Syd Guidi registered her 50th goal and 50th draw control of the season. With that performance, she joined former All-American Sarah Culver (2018) and CNU Hall of Famer Kaitlin Quigley (2011) as the only Captains to record at least 50 of both in the same year.

Along with Guidi, Brookelyn Morrison scored twice, including her 10th career man-up tally. That established a new program record, topping the previous mark set by CNU Hall of Famer Ashton Marshall from 2011-14 and matched by Culver from 2016-19. Additionally, it was her sixth man-up goal of the year, which also established a new program standard.

Rounding out Saturday's historic performances, Kelsey Winters became just the 16th player in NCAA Division III history to eclipse 400 career points. She finished the contest with two goals and her 269th career assist. That moved her six away from matching the all-time Division III record of 275, which was set by Rhodes' Emily Bruner from 2019-23.

So far this year, Winters ranks third in the NCAA with 66 assists, which also stands one shy of matching her own single-season school record. Meanwhile, as a team, Christopher Newport is ninth in the country in shooting percentage (.530) and 16th in free-position percentage (.552). The squad is also averaging just 13.88 turnovers per contest, which ranks 20th in the nation.

Mary Washington comes into the week on a four-game skid, although three of the setbacks have come against No. 5 Salisbury, No. 8 Washington and Lee, and No. 21 CNU. In fact, of the squad's 12 losses this season, eight have come at the hands of teams currently ranked in the top-25.

Despite their regular season gauntlet, the Eagles boast some of the top individual performers in the league. Bridget Crowley ranks second in the conference with 31 assists, while Katie Blair is fourth with 44 goals. Both standouts also stand in the top-five in total points. Meanwhile, on the other end of the field, Cailyn Tripp is 37th in the NCAA with 147 saves. She also has a 12.05 goals-against-average and .455 save percentage.

CNU and Mary Washington last met on April 20 when the Captains recorded a 13-7 win in Newport News. During that battle, Winters collected seven points, including six assists. Julia Iapicca also netted a hat-trick, while Blair led the Eagles with three goals of her own.

The winner of Wednesday's contest will advance to the conference championship, which will be hosted by top-seeded Salisbury on Saturday at 1 p.m.
