Noelle Starr became just the third player to reach 2,000 career digs in the history of Christopher Newport volleyball. She finished the day with 2,006 digs as she also passed Jenna Williams (2001 digs) for second all time at CNU. On Saturday, the Captains dropped two matches on Saturday at the Freeman Center, falling 3-0 to #15 Washington & Lee and 3-2 to Marymount in a five-set match.

First Set
The Captains stayed competitive early with two kills from
Megan James. Strong defensive play kept CNU close, with
Alyssa Dozier recording a solo block and combining with
Macy Burk and
Carley Coghill for two more. However, Washington & Lee's attack ultimately broke through to claim the set.
Second Set
Carley Coghill hit two early kills, and a three-point stretch with kills from
Alli Pratt and Burk helped CNU gain ground. But a late four-point run by Washington & Lee gave them the set and a 2-0 lead in the match.
Third Set
Pratt had two more kills and
Alyssa Vitale's ace helped to keep the score level. Dozier's fourth block of the match and Coghill's third continued CNU's defensive efforts, but Washington & Lee mangaged to get enough of an attack to get a third-set win.
Marymount 3, Christopher Newport 2
First Set
Pratt and Coghill were dynamic at the net, combining for nine blocks, including three together in the first set.
Megan James' kill briefly gave CNU the lead, but Marymount responded with four straight points to retake control and secure the set.
Second Set
Trailing by two, Burk sparked a five-point rally that included an ace from
Noelle Starr. After a service error, CNU answered with six straight points featuring kills from Dozier and two aces from Burk.
Phoebe Adams and Dozier added aces later, and Burk's kill clinched the second set for the Captains.
Third Set
With the score tied at 11, CNU mounted a dominant run, winning 10 of the next 11 points. Burk's two kills and two blocks with Pratt, along with late kills from Dozier, closed out the third set in favor of CNU.
Fourth Set
Megan James opened the fourth with three kills and an ace, helping CNU build a 12-8 lead. Dozier contributed six kills in the set, but Marymount fought back in a marathon set to win 30-28, forcing a fifth set.
Fifth Set
Dozier notched CNU's first three kills, adding a block with Vitale, but Marymount edged out the Captains to win the fifth set and match.
News & Notes
- The Captains set a season-high with 107 digs against Marymount, the first time they reached 100 digs since their match against Washington & Lee last season. Noelle Starr led with 20 digs on her record-breaking day.
- CNU also posted a season-best 17 blocks against Marymount, marking their second double-digit blocking match this year. Alli Pratt led with a career-high nine blocks.
