The stage is set for the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament, as Christopher Newport University welcomes the league's top teams to the Freeman Center this weekend. The second-seeded Captains will look to secure their 18th conference title with two wins this weekend.

Top-seeded Salisbury opens the tournament against fourth-seeded Mary Washington at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, followed by #2 Christopher Newport taking on #3 UC Santa Cruz at 5:30 p.m. The tournament continues Saturday with the Third-Place Match at noon and the Championship Match at 3:00 p.m. All games will be streamed live on

Last Time Out
Christopher Newport enters the postseason on a three-match winning streak, having swept the competition at the CNU Invitational. The Captains defeated Mary Washington and Berry in straight sets before dispatching Averett in four.

Conference Award Winners
On Thursday,
Alyssa Dozier was named Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. She and
Noelle Starr were selected to the First Team All-Conference, while
Alyssa Vitale and
Macy Burk earned Second Team All-Conference recognition. The Captains' coaching staff, led by
Lindsay Birch, was named Coaching Staff of the Year.

Christopher Newport holds a 5-4 advantage in the all-time series against UC Santa Cruz. The Captains had won three straight before dropping two matchups to the Banana Slugs earlier this season.
Scouting the Banana Slugs
UC Santa Cruz enters the tournament with a 15-13 record, finishing the regular season on a loss to Le Tourneau after a three-match win streak. Against C2C opponents, the Banana Slugs posted a 3-1 record, including wins over Mary Washington and CNU, and a loss to Salisbury. The Slugs are led by Margo Melgoza, the C2C Rookie of the Year, who tallied 553 assists, the third-most in the conference. She also contributed 35 aces and 167 digs in her first season.
