NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University senior All-American Jahn Hines was selected to the National Team of the Week this week by D3hoops.com. The announcement was made on Tuesday, as the Captains prepare to head back into action Wednesday night at Marymount University in Arlington, Va.

Hines, from Norfolk, Va., scored 60 points in two CNU games last week in Georgia to open the New Year. He tallied a career-high 39 points in CNU's come-from-behind victory at Berry College on New Year's Day. He followed the effort with a 21-point performance at Emory University last Wednesday, a game that saw the Eagles post an 86-70 victory to snap a five-game CNU winning streak.

Hines has now has scored 1,281 career points in 79 games played (16.2 ppg). He is currently in 18th place on the scoring list, just two points behind Tim Daly for 17th place, and 23 points behind Mike Green for 16th place. Hines became one of just six Captains all-time to score 39 or more points in a game when he erupted for 39 at Berry. He was selected second team All-America by D3hoops.com prior to the start of the season, and last season was selected as fourth team All-American by the website, the second career All-American honor for the senior from Norfolk.

Christopher Newport is 12-4 on the year following the split last week in Georgia, while Marymount is 8-5 so far this season. The Saints have won three in a row and five of their last six games. Wednesday's game at Converse Family Fieldhouse in Arlington will be the 29th all-time meeting of the teams. CNU holds a 24-4 lead in the series, and the Captains have won the last three games with the Saints.
