NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University takes on the University of Mary Washington Wednesday night in Fredericksburg, Va. The Captains, 14-4 and ranked 25th in the country, take on the Eagles (9-5) at Ron Rosner Arena with tip off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
John Krikorian's squad has won its last two games, most recently an 84-64 home win over Rosemont College on Saturday at the Freeman Center. Mary Washington hasn't seen action since January 3rd, when the Eagles defeated Franklin & Marshall in Fredericksburg, 63-46. UMW's scheduled game on January 6th vs. Westminster (Pa.) was canceled due to bad weather.
CNU and Mary Washington will be matching up for the 45th time, and the Captains hold a 37-7 lead in the all-time series. Christopher Newport has won the last nine games in the series, including three victories last season. The schools last met in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Championship Game in Santa Cruz, Ca., on February 25th, with CNU recording a 65-52 victory.
Senior All-American
Jahn Hines leads the CNU attack, and was named the Coast-To-Coast Player of the Week on Monday for the second time this season. Hines, now averaging a team-high 16.0 points per game, went over the 1,300-point mark in Saturday's win over Rosemont, and has now scored 1,317 career points in 81 games played (16.2 points per game career average). He is just ten points behind Jermaine Woods for 15th place on CNU's all-time scoring list.

Following Wednesday night's road game, the Captains return to the Freeman Center on Saturday to take on the Owls of Warren Wilson College. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m., and the game will follow the CNU/Warren Wilson women's game, which is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
