NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Christopher Newport Volleyball heads south to Raleigh, North Carolina this weekend for a trio of matches.
Match Details
The Captains face off with Meredith on Friday for a 6:00 p.m. matchup. The next day, they head across town to play a neutral site contest against Southern Virginia at noon before squaring off with William Peace at 2:00 p.m.
Last Time Out
Christopher Newport won all nine sets they played last weekend as they won matches against Washington & Lee, Shenandoah, and Bridgewater, all in three sets. Leading the way was
Alyssa Dozier who set the Christopher Newport record for hitting percentage in a match with at least 20 attempts with her .741 percentage in the Captains' win over Washington & Lee. Dozier finished the week with a .586 hitting percentage and 37 kills across the three matches and was named C2C Offensive Player of the Week.

Lindsay Birch sits just two wins away from 600 career wins as coach of the Captains. She'll have three opportunities this weekend to reach a mark that only 54 coaches in the history of division 3 women's volleyball have reached. Birch could also become the 16th active head coach in D3 to reach 600 wins.

The Captains are 26-1 against Meredith all-time including a three set victory last season at the Freeman Center. CNU is also 31-0 against William Peace all-time, who they also beat last season in three sets. The Captains are 18-2 all-time against Southern Virginia and have won 15 straight matches. The former conference-mates last met in 2019 with the Captains taking a three set win in the conference tournament.

Coming into the weekend at 5-6, William Peace has beaten Methodist and Salem in the last week, but fell to Mary Washington. They'll enter the weekend ranked in the national top 50 with 750 digs on the season.
