BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Christopher Newport extended their set winning streak to nine on Saturday with their second and third three-set victories over Shenandoah and Bridgewater.
Christopher Newport 3, Shenandoah 0 | (25-12, 25-12, 25-18)
First Set
The Captains held Shenandoah to a .075 hitting percentage in this match and that started by holding them to a .043 hitting percentage and just three kills in the first set. Leading 18-11, the Captains secured the first set by taking seven of the final eight points with kills from
Madi Schmidt,
Sammy Carroll, and
Macy Burk.Â
Second Set
Noelle Starr held serve for nine straight points and served four aces as part of CNU's 10-0 run early in the second set. CNU had only two errors in the second set and hit a match-best .368. A kill from
Alli Pratt was followed by a
Julia Dailey service ace clinched the second set for the Captains.
Third Set
CNU scored at least three straight points four times in the third set. Three kills from
Sammy Carroll helped the Captains pull away from Shenandoah, and
Simara Alexander dealt the final blow with her eighth kill of the match.

First Set
A late run from Bridgewater put them ahead 20-19, but four straight errors brought the Captains back in front. A kill by
Samantha Dorn was followed by another Bridgewater error to help CNU take the first set. Â
Second Set
Trailing 18-17, the Captains came storming back and won eight of the last ten points of the second set.
Sammy Carroll,
Kyla McIntyre,
Macy Burk, and
Alyssa Dozier teamed up to provide kills for the run that became the difference in the second set. Dozier added her sixth kill of the set to finish off the set for CNU.
Third Set
Bridgewater led 22-17 in the third set, but a 5-0 run by the Captains tied the set at 22.
Kyla McIntyre responded to Bridgewater's next kill to keep the score knotted at 23. The Eagles worked up to a 25-24 lead and brought up set point, but back to back kills from Dozier swung the momentum back to the Captains and brought up match point. Bridgewater couldn't keep their next attack in bounds, CNU took the match in three sets.

- Sammy Carroll posted a double double with 10 kills and 23 assists, both team highs in the Shenandoah match. She also led the team with 9 digs as well.
