Entering the playoffs as the league's No. 2 seed, Christopher Newport sits at 10-7 overall, including 5-6 at home. Meanwhile, Mary Washington is the No. 3 seed after wrapping up the regular season with a 9-8 record and a 5-4 mark on the road.

Christopher Newport is coming off of a hard-fought 12-11 overtime setback against No. 4 Salisbury on Saturday. Against the Sea Gulls,
Kendall Krause and
Syd Guidi both registered goals late in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Meanwhile,
Taylor Schoolar matched her career-high with 10 saves, including one near the end of regulation and another stop in the extra session.
Along with the late-game heroics, which included a takeaway by freshman
Maddie Tomaszewski, three Captains added multi-goal efforts against Salisbury.
Kelsey Winters posted three points, including a pair of strikes, while
Julia Iapicca and
Hope Hunter both added two goals as well.
With her performance on Saturday, Iapicca became the ninth player in program history to reach 50 goals in a single campaign. Winters also moved to 10th on the school's single-season charts with 87 points, while her 52 assists stand third on the all-time list and eighth in the NCAA this year.
Krause also continued her record-setting run on Saturday. Against the Sea Gulls, she made her 78th career appearance, moving past Christopher Newport Hall of Famer Kaitlin Quigley for the most in program history. Her 78 starts also rank first in school lore, while her 77 takeaways place her fourth all-time and second among midfielders.
Mary Washington comes into the playoffs with a well-rested roster as the Eagles have not seen action since their 14-13 overtime setback against Christopher Newport on April 22. During that game, UMW held a four-goal edge with less than three minutes remaining in regulation, but Iapicca netted three late strikes, and Guidi added one to knot the score at 13. Then, in the bonus period, Winters landed the game-winner in the 63rd minute.
Entering the playoffs, Mary Washington is led by Cailyn Tripp, who ranks eighth in the NCAA with 190 saves and 12th with a .535 save percentage. Meanwhile, on the other end, Maya Koebke stands fourth in the league with 63 points, and Katie Blair slots seventh with 50. Kayla Sarazin also has 27 goals, 21 assists, and a team-high 93 draw controls.
Mary Washington and Christopher Newport have met in the league playoffs during each of the past two seasons. The Captains posted a 12-9 win in Fredericksburg during the 2021 campaign before adding a 5-4 triumph in Newport News last year. During the most recent postseason showdown, Guidi led the victors with a pair of goals, while Sarazin had a goal and five draw controls for the Eagles.
The winner of Wednesday's game will advance to the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championship, which will take place at the highest remaining seed on Saturday. The league's other semifinal battle features top-seeded Salisbury against No. 4 seed Warren Wilson.
