Christopher Newport Set to Host Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Championship Tennis Tournaments

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Christopher Newport University will play host to the 2023 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Championship Tournaments this weekend, starting with quarterfinal action on Friday. Action will open on the indoor courts at the James River Country Club on Friday due to rain in the forecast, with #5-seed Pratt Institute taking on #4-seed Salisbury at 11:00 a.m. in the women's tennis quarterfinals. The men's quarterfinal will follow at 2:00 p.m. with the winning team advancing to Saturday's semifinal round. 

Live stats and a live video webcast will be available for all the action with links found on the tennis schedule at CNUsports.com. 

On the men's side, UC Santa Cruz secured the top seed in the tournament and will await the winner of Friday's quarterfinal. The other semifinal matchup will feature #2-seed Mary Washington against host and #3-seed Christopher Newport. The women's semifinals will pit top-seeded Mary Washington against either Pratt or Salisbury while the other semifinal features #2 Christopher Newport versus #3 UC Santa Cruz. 

The semifinal winners will then advance to Sunday's championship bout, currently scheduled for simultaneous play on the James T. and Sarah C. Eyre Courts at Christopher Newport University with action starting at 2:00 p.m. Should the weather force play indoors, the women's championship will be played Sunday morning followed by an afternoon championship for the men's title.
