FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Wrapping up a five-game road trip, the Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will travel to Mary Washington for a Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference showdown at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Battleground Turf Field.
Coming into the weekend, the Captains have an 8-6 record, including a 4-1 mark on the road. Meanwhile, Mary Washington is 9-7 overall and 4-3 at home. The Eagles are also 0-1 in conference action.

Christopher Newport is coming off of a 15-2 victory at Meredith on Wednesday. Against the Avenging Angels,
Kelsey Winters matched her season-high with nine points, while
Brookelyn Morrison and
Julia Iapicca also contributed hat-tricks. The Captains also controlled 16 of the game's 21 draws, including a career-high eight by
Hope Hunter.
Emma Jackson also collected the 150th draw control of her career, making her just the sixth player in program history to reach that milestone.
Aided by her work on Wednesday, Winters moved to fifth in the nation with 46 assists this season. She also slots 28th overall with 74 points.
On the defensive side, Christopher Newport generated 22 turnovers against Meredith, including two takeaways apiece by Iapicca,
Kendall Krause, and
Sloane McDonald.
Hadley Chadwick also collected four saves while improving to 7-3 on the season.
During their current five-game road swing, which matches the longest trip by the squad since 2013, the Captains have received key contributions from a wide variety of standouts. Boasting a 3-1 record during their travels, Winters has a team-high 29 points, including 19 assists. Iapicca has also landed 14 goals, while Morrison has 11 strikes to go along with 20 draw controls and 10 ground balls.
Christopher Newport has also held its opposition to just 8.25 goals per game during the current road trip.
Maddie Rusinko leads the back line with four takeaways, while Chadwick has compiled 19 total saves.
Mary Washington is coming off of a 14-4 setback at No. 6 Salisbury on Saturday. Kayla Sarazin posted two points against the Sea Gulls, while Cailyn Tripp pocketed 18 saves.
Overall this season, Tripp ranks third in the NCAA with 177 total stops and 10th with a .536 save percentage. Meanwhile, on the offensive end, the Eagles have been carried by freshman Maya Koebke. The first-year phenom ranks second in the league with 43 goals and 61 points, while her 18 assists place her fourth on the conference charts.
Saturday's match-up will mark the 23rd all-time meeting between the two programs with Mary Washington holding a 17-5 advantage in the series. However, the Captains have won the last four bouts, including a 5-4 triumph last year. During the most recent game,
Syd Guidi led the victors with a pair of goals, while Sarazin had a strike and five draws for the Eagles.
After this weekend, Christopher Newport will return home for a 5 p.m. battle against Catholic on April 26.
