Third-Ranked Captains Host Mary Washington Wednesday Night in Regular-Season Finale

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -
The regular season comes to a close Wednesday night as the Captains of Christopher Newport University host the Eagles of the University of Mary Washington. Game time at the Freeman Center is set for 7:30 p.m., and Senior Night ceremonies will take place just before tip-off.

The Captains are 21-3 and ranked third in the nation for the second straight week. John Krikorian's squad has won six straight games, most recently an 85-73 triumph Saturday at Salisbury University. Mary Washington carries a 17-6 record heading into Wednesday's game.

CNU and Mary Washington will be meeting for the 43rd time, with the Captains holding a 35-7 edge in the all-time series, which dates back to 1977. CNU has won the last seven meetings, and 16 of the last 17. On February 1st, the Captains recorded an 67-53 victory over UMW at Ron Rosner Arena in Fredericksburg. Fifth-year senior Brandon Edmond led the way with 19 points for the Captains, and junior Trey Barber posted 16 points and eight rebounds.
