NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University opens 2024 on New Year's Day with a road game at Berry College in Georgia. Tip off time is set for 2:00 p.m., and the game will be the first ever between the Vikings and Captains.
John Krikorian's squad ended 2023 with a four-game winning streak, including two victories at the Freeman Center to capture the Holiday Inn Captains Shootout. CNU defeated Old Westbury on Thursday and then downed Stevenson on Friday in the Championship. Senior All-American
Jahn Hines led the way for the Captains, scoring 42 points in the two victories, and was selected Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.
The Captains are 11-3 heading into 2024, while Berry College is 3-8 entering Monday's battle.Â

Monday's game begins a two-game trip to the Peach State, which will conclude on Wednesday afternoon at Emory University in Atlanta. The games mark the first time the Captains have played in Georgia since February 9, 2013, when CNU lost at LaGrange College in LaGrange, Ga., 73-68.
