NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport Volleyball is gearing up for another weekend homestand as they return to the Freeman Center to host three matches on their home court.
Match Details
The Captains will be hosting a trio of matches at the Freeman Center this weekend. On Friday night at 6:00 p.m, they'll face off against Mary Washington, followed by a clash with Swarthmore on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and a showdown against Washington & Lee at 3:00 p.m.Â
Last Time Out
In a thrilling five-set match against Virginia Wesleyan, Christopher Newport secured a hard-fought victory on Wednesday night. Four Captains finished with double-digit kills as
Macy Burk led the team with 14,
Alyssa Dozier hit 13 kills,
Kyla McIntyre added 11, and
Samantha Dorn had 10.
Sammy Carroll led the Captains with 54 assists as the Captains totaled 55 assists. CNU also set a new season-high mark of 75 digs with
Noelle Starr leading the way with 24.

4 - The Captains have just four more home matches scheduled for the 2023 season. Following the three matches this weekend, Thursday's match against William Peace will be the final match Christopher Newport is scheduled to play in the Freeman Center this season.
Series History
CNU is 18-27 against Mary Washington after the Eagles toppled the Captains in last year's C2C tournament. The Captains have won seven of their last ten meetings with Mary Washington. This will be the second meeting of Christopher Newport and Swarthmore. The Captains won the only meeting back in 2021. The Captains are 21-14 against Washington & Lee in their respective histories. CNU has won the last eight straight against the Generals, including a win on a trip to Lexington earlier this season.
Scouting the Eagles
Mary Washington holds a record of 20-1 headed into Friday's match. The Eagles only loss came at the hands of Salisbury back in September. They've won their last five matches in straight sets including wins over UC Santa Cruz and Virginia Wesleyan.Â
Scouting the Garnet
Swarthmore is 12-5 this year and come into Saturday winning two of their last three matches. They've been solid on the road this season with a 4-1 record and have played just one home match since October 3.
Scouting the Generals
Washington & Lee are 14-7 this season after winning two three-set matches last weekend but losing their midweek match with Bridgewater in three sets. The Captains dealt W&L their first loss of the season back on September 15.
