NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport split their Saturday afternoon matches at the Freeman Center with a loss to Salisbury and a victory over Warren Wilson after celebrating senior day.
Salisbury 3, Christopher Newport 0 | (25-21, 25-18, 25-16)
First Set
Six straight Salisbury points saw CNU fall behind early in the first set. The Sea Gulls maintained there lead and scored three of the final five points to win the first set.
Second Set
Kills from
Samantha Dorn and
Macy Burk helped the Captains catch up after Salisbury took an early four-point lead. Two aces from
Noelle Starr and another from
Megan James helped the Captains keep pace with Salisbury, but a late run helped the Sea Gulls capture the second set.
Third Set
Phoebe Adams started a 5-0 CNU run that featured back-to-back-to-back kills from
Alyssa Dozier that helped the Captains close an early gap. But the Captains couldn't keep pace with Salisbury through the latter part of the set, as SU closed out the third set to win the match 3-0.

First Set
Noelle Starr started out the match with back-to-back service aces as part of the six she'd serve in the first set.
Macy Burk added five kills in the first set, and her fifth kill gave the Captains an 11 point lead late in the first set.
Samantha Dorn and
Simara Alexander helped CNU close out the set and take an early lead.
Second Set
Sammy Carroll struck for another kill before serving back-to-back aces to give CNU a 11-4 lead.
Alli Pratt's four kills in the second set helped the Captains maintain their lead and
Simara Alexander's third kill of the set clinched a second-set victory for Christopher Newport.
Third Set
Madi Schmidt led the Captains in the third set with four kills while
Alli Pratt and
Simara Alexander added three each. The Captains held Warren Wilson to just three kills and a negative hitting percentage in the third set as they quickly dispatched the Owls for a three-set victory.

- CNU held Warren Wilson to the lowest hitting percentage (.042) of any opponent this season.
- The Captains were led by Alli Pratt in the win over Warren Wilson with eight kills, her career high. Phoebe Adams also reached a career high of six kills.
