NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- After the Captains earned a pair of wins last week and improved to 8-1-1 overall on the season, the team was listed among the others receiving votes category in this week's United Soccer Coaches national rankings. The CNU men's soccer program will look to continue its success on Wednesday night as they play host to St. Mary's College of Maryland at Captains Field at 6:00 p.m.
Admission to Captains Field is free for the game and fans unable to attend can watch the matchup live online via a video webcast at CNUsports.com/watch. Live stats will also be available as the Captains take on the Seahawks for the 30th time in program history.Â
The all-time series favors Christopher Newport, 22-5-2, and dates back to the first game of the1977 season. CNU has won six straight in the series and have strung together a streak of 16 consecutive games without a loss to the Seahawks (15-0-1) that dates back to the 2006 season.Â
CNU has won three straight while outscoring opponents 8-1 in wins over Stockton, Roanoke, and Salisbury. The Captains offense has now scored multiple goals in eight of the team's ten games this season. Christopher Newport is averaging 2.4 goals per game while the Captains' defense has held opponents to just 0.80 goals per game.Â

Jacob Dudley is the only field player to start all 10 games for the Captains and leads the team in minutes played with 822 oout of a possible 900 this season. In goal, sophomore
Hayden Dewey has also started all 10 games and boasts a 0.85 goals-against average.Â
St. Mary's (Md.) enters Wednesday night's matchup after a 2-2 draw against Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday afternoon. The Seahawks are unbeaten in five of their last six (2-1-3) including a 1-1 draw against Salisbury on Wednesdsay, September 27. St. Mary's is averaging 2.64 goals per game while allowing 1.55. Elliot Hodges leads the attack with seven goals while Zack Glime has added five tallies and one assist in 11 starts this season.Â
Following the Wednesday night matchup, the Captains will close out the home portion of the regular season on Saturday with a primetime matchup with the second-ranked University of Mary Washington at 7:00 p.m.Â
