Live Stats // Video Stream

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. --
The Christopher Newport field hockey team will wrap up a brief two-game road swing on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. when the Captains battle Wilson at Chambersburg High School.

Entering the weekend, Christopher Newport boasts a 5-3 record, including a 2-1 mark on the road. Meanwhile, Wilson is 3-2 overall and 2-0 at home.

For those fans unable to attend the game, live stats and a video stream of the action will be available at WilsonPhoenix.com. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Christopher Newport was last in action on Wednesday when the squad upended Catholic, 1-0, in Washington, D.C. Against the Cardinals, Delaney Norr landed the game's lone strike after capitalizing on a penalty corner in the 10th minute. Abby Asuncion and Morgan Arthur added assists on the tally.

Defensively, the Captains did not allow a single shot in the first half against Catholic before brushing aside six penalty corners during the final 30 minutes. Among the standouts, Lily Kerr made a pair of saves between the pipes, while Marcella Sabbagh, Brooke Billhimer, and Chloe Thompson helped anchor the back line. Lainey Pratzner also matched her season-high with 42 minutes of work and added a clutch interception in the waning moments of regulation to help kill off a late surge by the Cardinals.

Overall this season, Christopher Newport ranks ninth in the NCAA in goals per game (4.25) and 24th in goals-against-average (1.00). On an individual level, Emily Evans sits second in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference with six goals, while Emma Logue is third with four assists. On the other end, Kerr features a league-high .889 save percentage while sporting a pristine 2-0 record.

Wilson has been equally impressive this season. Coming into Saturday's tilt, the Phoenix rank sixth in the NCAA in scoring average (4.79) and 11th in goals-against-average (0.76). On an individual level, Paige Ney is 17th in the country with a 1.25 goals-per-game rate. Additionally, Allyson Shindler stands 19th overall with a 0.87 goals-against-average while also boasting a .727 save percentage.

On Wednesday, Wilson snapped a minor two-game skid with a 6-1 victory over Ferrum. Alexis Pflumm led the Phoenix with four goals and an assist, while Ney and Brea Kelso also added strikes for the victors.

Saturday's match-up will mark the fifth all-time meeting between the two programs. Christopher Newport currently holds a perfect 4-0 record in the series. The squads last met in 2013 with the Captains pulling out a 13-0 victory in Newport News. During that bout, current assistant coach Marlene Lichty collected five points for the hosts after landing two goals and an assist.

After this weekend, Christopher Newport will return to action on September 30 when the team hosts Shenandoah at 5:00 p.m.
