NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. -- Four members of the Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team collected All-Chesapeake Region honors, while Kendall Krause and Kelsey Winters earned first-team nods from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association on Thursday morning.

Along with the first-team selections, Emma Jackson and Syd Guidi picked up second-team accolades for their work in 2022. Overall, the four All-Region performers equaled the most in program history, matching the award-winning contingent from 2021.

Earning top plaudits for the second straight year, Winters became just the sixth Captain to earn a pair of first-team honors. With her second award, she joined an exclusive list featuring Christopher Newport Hall of Famers Ashton Marshall and Kaitlin Quigley, All-Americans Meaghan Galvin and Sarah Culver, and former legend Catie Chess.

Meanwhile, Krause also secured All-Region honors for the second straight year after collecting a second-team citation in 2021. Additionally, Jackson and Guidi were celebrated for the first time in their careers.

Showcasing her versatility throughout her senior campaign, Krause served as a centerpiece on the midfield unit. During the year, she ranked second in the league with 33 ground balls, while she also slotted sixth with 38 goals and ninth with 18 caused turnovers. Her 45 total points also placed her ninth among conference competitors and established a new career-high for the Ellicott City, Maryland native.

On the offensive end, Krause recorded at least one point in 14 of her appearances, including six hat-tricks. She erupted for three goals in nationally-ranked duels at No. 4 Washington & Lee on March 19 and No. 15 Messiah on April 2, while she landed six strikes against Roanoke on March 26. Meanwhile, on the other side, she had a takeaway in 13 of her outings and snatched multiple ground balls on 12 occasions, including both games during the league playoffs.

Anchoring the attack, Winters continued her record-setting career during an exceptional junior campaign. The third-year star established a new school standard with 66 assists, which broke the previous mark by 11. Her 95 total points also moved her to fifth on the program's all-time single-season charts and ranked first in the league. Additionally, the Harwood, Maryland native stood second in the conference with 13 free-position goals.

Among her finest moments, Winters established a new school record with 13 points during a victory over Moravian on February 26. Her 10 assists against the Greyhounds also matched the single-game program standard. Overall, she had four double-digit point performances during the year and had 13 games with at least two assists. For her efforts, she was a four-time Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honoree.

Equally electric on the offensive side, Guidi orchestrated a breakout season with the Captains. The second-year sensation registered 43 goals, which placed her fourth in the conference. Her 54 draw controls also ranked third in the league. Incredibly, the Southborough, Massachusetts native became just the sixth player in school history to collect at least 40 draws and 40 goals in a single season.

Effective throughout the year, Guidi contributed 10 multi-goal efforts, including seven strikes against St. Mary's (Md.) on April 5. She also added six tallies in wins over Randolph-Macon on March 23 and Meredith on April 20, becoming only the seventh Captain to record at least six goals on three different occasions in a single season. Meanwhile, she also controlled 10 draws in back-to-back appearances against Roanoke on March 26 and Lynchburg on March 30.

Tormenting the opposition as a standout member of the defensive unit, Jackson flashed a well-balanced skill set during her sophomore campaign. On the back end, she led the conference with 36 ground balls while slotting third among league competitors with 23 takeaways. The Mount Airy, Maryland native also added 101 draw controls, which ranked first in the conference and marked the third-highest total in school history.

On the defensive side, Jackson caused a turnover in 13 of her appearances, including four takeaways in a win over Randolph-Macon on March 23. She also collected a season-high five ground balls against Haverford on March 9. Meanwhile, the second-year star set a new school record with 14 draw controls in a win over Illinois Wesleyan on April 10. She had at least five draws in 12 of her outings, including six against No. 2 Salisbury in the league championship on May 7.

Guided by the work of the All-Region performers, Christopher Newport climbed as high as 22nd in the IWLCA National Coaches Poll while advancing to the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championship for the second consecutive year.
