NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship Committee announced the tournament bracket on Monday afternoon, awarding the 12th-ranked Christopher Newport University men's soccer team hosting duties for the first and second rounds this weekend. The Captains (12-3-2) will take on Rosemont College (10-2-5), the champions of the Colonial States Athletic Conference, in the opening round with the other first round matchup featuring Lynchburg (11-2-5) and Catholic (12-1-7).
Game times, ticket information, and more will be announced at CNUsports.com as it is made available in the coming days. CNU is hosting for the first time since 2019 and the tenth time in program history. Christopher Newport has played host to the opening weekend nine times.
Christopher Newport reached the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Championship Game for the third straight year and earned a 1-1 draw against Mary Washington. The Captains took runner-up honors after a thrilling finish to regulation and a 6-5 setback in the penalty kick shootout. Christopher Newport earned an at-large berth into the postseason tournament for the sixth time and carries a 12-3-2 overall record into the weekend's event.
Rosemont won the team's second straight CSAC championship after the Ravens defeated Cairn, 2-1, in the title game. Traveling to Newport News is Lynchburg, who earned an at-large berth out of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, and Catholic, who also was a Pool C entrant into the tournament out of the Landmark Conference.
