Christopher Newport topped Pratt in a straight-set win on Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Coast-to-Coast Conference Tournament, but came up short against Mary Washington in the semifinals.

First Set
The Captains set the tone with four straight points to kick off the match. CNU led by two or more points the entire set led by
Maddie Carter with four kills.
Mackenzie Wright and Carter bookended three Pratt errors to close out the first set in favor of Christopher Newport.Â
Second Set
Christopher Newport took 13 of the first 15 points in the second set.
Julia Gleason served three of her team-leading five aces as part of the set opening run.
Rebecca Frey served back-to-back aces as part of five straight CNU points later in the set, and
Maddie Carter's kill clinched the second set for the Captains.
Third Set
The Captains scored six straight points on two different occasions. The first included three kills from
Mackenzie Wright, part of her team best 12 kills, while the second featured two more aces from
Julia Gleason. Two kills from
Macy Burk followed by an ace from
Noelle Starr completed the three set sweep for Christopher Newport.
Mary Washington 3, Christopher Newport 2 | (23-25, 26-24, 17-25, 25-23, 15-12)
First Set
The Captains called a timeout after Mary Washington narrowed their lead to just one with the score 22-21. Back-to-back kills from
Mackenzie Wright and
Alyssa Dozier brought up set point for the Captains, but the Eagles returned fire with back-to-back kills to make the score 24-23 and force another CNU timeout. But the Captains stopped the UMW run with a kill from Dozier to take the first set.
Second Set
CNU fought back from a five point deficit to even the score at 20, after which the teams split the next eight points to leave the score at 24-24. The Eagles reached set point after the Captains missed on a serve, and claimed the second set on an attacking error by Christopher Newport.
Third Set
The third set started close like the first two, but Christopher Newport quickly moved ahead to create a wide margin. Two kills from
Maddie Carter were part of four straight CNU points that forced a UMW timeout. Out of the timeout, the Captains took five of the next seven points before the Eagles called another timeout. Late in the third set, four straight points helped CNU take the set and move ahead 2-1.
Fourth Set
The Eagles took a four point lead and held set point with the score 24-20. A kill from
Maddie Carter was followed by an ace from
Anna Dean, cutting the lead to two. The Captains got within one when a UMW attack went wide, but the Eagles managed to close out the fourth set with the next point and bring up the deciding fifth set.
Fifth Set
With the score tied at 11, Mary Washington took the next three points in a row to force match point. A kill from
Alyssa Dozier stopped the run, but the Eagles took the next and final point to win the set and match.

- The Captains hit .395 in the win over Pratt, their second highest percentage this season.
- CNU was perfect in serve receive for the second match this season against Pratt.
- Christopher Newport allowed the fewest of digs of the season, allowing 16 against Pratt.
