NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University is off to a 4-0 start to the season, and the fourth-ranked Captains host the Monarchs of Methodist University Tuesday night. Tip-off time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Freeman Center.

John Krikorian's squad is fresh off two victories over the weekend to capture the Championship of the National Beef Susquehanna University Tip-off Tournament in Selinsgrove, Pa. CNU needed overtime to down Washington and Lee on Friday, 85-84, in the opening round...and then defeated host school Susquehanna in the title game Saturday, 81-57.

Junior All-American Jahn Hines was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament after posting 39 points and pulling down 14 rebounds in the pair of wins. Senior Matt Brodie was also named to the All-Tournament team after recording 30 points and nine boards in the two victories.

Methodist University is off to an 0-4 start to the season, and the Monarchs were defeated at Ferrum College on Sunday, 83-59, in their last time out. Christopher Newport and Methodist have met 93 times in the past, and the Captains have a mark of 67-26 against their former league-mates from the Dixie and USA South Athletic Conferences. The Captains have won the last 11 in the series, and are 39-6 all-time at home vs. the Monarchs. The schools last met on November 24, 2018, with the Captains posting a 73-59 victory at the Freeman Center.
